Can I just watch the webinar and not complete the case study?
Taking part in the challenge is completely optional! If you are only interested in watching the webinar, go ahead and sign up now and ignore the case study. However, bear in mind that you won’t get the chance to win a MacBook Pro or a paid internship.
What language will the webinar be in?
The webinar will be delivered entirely in English.
What do I need to watch the webinar?
All you need in order to watch the webinar is a stable internet connection. The webinar will be available on desktop, tablet and mobile.
What is the [mascupon] Challenge?
The [mascupon] Challenge is a new initiative to find the brightest and best young talent from around the globe and introduce them to the exciting world of online startups. It consists of a 2-hour webinar and an optional case study. Submission of a case study qualifies you for winning either a MacBook Pro or a 3-month internship at [mascupon] HQ in Valencia.
The webinar is called “How to launch your own online start-up and not die in the attempt” and CEO Alex Sepulveda and members of his executive team, using a combination of 100% real-life, hands-on knowledge and insights as well as the latest trends in business development, digital marketing and SEO, will talk you through all the stages of launching an international startup from zero to hero, with particular attention paid to the mistakes we made so you don’t repeat them.
At the end of the webinar, we will present the details of the optional case study which you need to complete in order to have an opportunity to win a MacBook Pro or a paid internship. The case study will be a short analysis related to internet startups and specifically the coupons and discounts industry. You will have 2 weeks to complete it and submit it to [mascupon] for judging.
What are the prizes for the [mascupon] Challenge?
The 3 winners of the [mascupon] Challenge will be able to choose between:
An Apple MacBook Pro with 13-inch screen and Core i5 2.7 GHz processor.
A 3-month internship in Valencia, Spain, to work in a rapidly growing international startup. Accommodation will be covered by [mascupon] for the duration of the three months, as well as the flights to and from Valencia.
Winners cannot claim both prizes and will be asked to choose.
When will I be told about the case study to complete?
Details of the case study will be given at the end of the webinar. After presenting the webinar, Alex Sepulveda, CEO and co-founder of [mascupon] will give instructions regarding the case study you will need to send to [mascupon].
Do I have to be studying at University to participate in the case study?
Anyone can sign up for the webinar, whether you are a student or not.
Anyone can participate in the case study and try to win the MacBook however, in order to win an internship in Valencia with us, you should be studying or enrolled at a further education institution (typically a university or college) at the moment you register for the [mascupon] Challenge.
Anyone who is not enrolled in a higher education institution will not be eligible for the internship with [mascupon], however they will have the possibility of winning a MacBook Pro.
What studies are necessary for the internship?
We accept all studies, degrees and majors long as you are enrolled in a further education institution at the moment you register for the [mascupon] Challenge.
Is there an age limit for participating in the case study?
We are looking for the brightest and best young talent from around the globe. Participants must be at least 18 years old. As this is an entry level position, applicants must be under 35 years old.
How much does it cost to participate?
Participating in the [mascupon] Challenge is completely free of charge.
When is the last day to register for the challenge?
You can sign up for the challenge until July 7th, 2016.
When is the deadline to hand in the case study?
The case study has to be sent via email as an Adobe PDF document to email@example.com by July the 14th, 2016.
The PDF file must not exceed 10mb and the subject of the email should be your name and surname you used to register for the [mascupon] Challenge. Please include a copy of your CV in PDF format of not more than 2 pages.
When will you announce the winners of the [mascupon] Challenge?
The winners of the [mascupon] contest will be contacted two weeks after final submission, on July 27th, 2016.
I don’t speak Spanish – can I still enter the [mascupon] Challenge?
The minimum language requirement is a B2 level of English (intermediate). The top executives of [mascupon] are all English speaking natives and most of the team also speaks English to an intermediate level. It is not necessary at all to speak Spanish, though it is always useful.
What countries can enter?
We accept entries from every country.
What will the case study be about and how long will it take to do?
The case study will be a short analysis related to internet startups and specifically the coupons and discounts industry. You will have 2 weeks to complete it and submit it to [mascupon] for judging.
The average submission is 3 to 5 pages of A4, though you can write more or less as necessary.
What language can I complete the case study in?
The case study can be completed in English, Spanish or Portuguese.
How will you judge the winners of the [mascupon] Challenge?
The [mascupon] Challenge will be judged by Alex Sepulveda, CEO of [mascupon] and members of his executive team.
The submissions will be judged on the quality of language, the research that was executed, the originality of the thesis and the overall perceived talent of the contestant. Length will not be a major factor. However, including an updated CV is greatly appreciated.
Out of all the contestants, three will be chosen to receive the prizes.
When would the internship start?
The start date, days to be worked and hours worked per day will be arranged with each individual student always adhering to the rules and limits governing student-company internships set by each academic institution. The earliest starting date will be August 1st, 2016.
How long will the internship be?
The duration of the internship is for 3 months although it can be shortened if necessary to suit the candidate.
What expenses are included in the internship?
The internship includes a gross salary of 500 euros monthly, suitable accommodation and 2 way flights from your country of origin, to and from Valencia in Spain.
Where will the internship be held?
The internship will take place at [mascupon] HQ in Valencia, Spain.
The office is well situated and 30m from the nearest subway, tram and bus stops. Open-concept, the place if full of light and very comfortable. The center of Valencia is only 20 minutes away and the popular Malvarrosa beach just a 5-minute walk.
What work will I do during the internship?
You will be collaborating with Alex Sepulveda, CEO and co-founder of [mascupon] to put the best ideas from your case study into practice. You will also be involved in digital marketing tasks, social media management, article writing, SEO and even some simple design work.
What happens if I need to get a visa to work in Spain?
In general the process to obtain a short stay visa for a non European union student to work in Spain for 3 months is relatively quick. The MasCupon HR team will handle any Visa preparations necessary and expenses.
